Good morning! Here is a stupid game I started playing on Twitter last night at 2AM. While reading all of the yearend lists about the Best Television of 2013, replace every show’s title with Dog With a Blog. Here are some of my favorites.
1. How could something so punishing be so great? Well, half of what made “Dog With A Blog” was its relentlessness, a function of the unrelenting personality of its supremely narcissistic lead character,
2. Dog With A Blog shrewdly and subtly brought to light the one-of-a-kind experience of returning to the place you once called home to find that everything is different yet somehow, vapidly, the same.
3. The most gorgeously disturbing show on the air this year, “Dog With A Blog” managed to come up with scenes of horror that were shocking even in a TV landscape oversaturated with serial killer narratives.
4. This is a dark, tragic tale, but a haunting one, as well. “Dog With A Blog” will leave you shaken for quite a while.
5. “Dog With A Blog” isn’t the first show to depict what happened when those ‘50s pencil skirts and skinny ties came off, but it’s one of the first to be truly honest about what prevents people, then and now, from expressing their truest selves in the bedroom and elsewhere.
6. Throughout the 13 episodes of its first season, Dog With A Blog slowly peeled back the layers of a particularly dark onion in America’s past.
7. What makes Dog With A Blog work so well isn’t the cruelty of its (mostly human) monsters, but the context that cruelty exists within.
8. Exhaustive in its artistic invention, Dog With A Blog exudes the force of an epic reckoning.
9. Season two of Dog With A Blog went dark. Like really dark.
10. In 2014, Dog With A Blog deserves to move beyond cult status and become the next television phenomenon.
