Does anyone remember Running Wilde? The show that was created by Mitch Hurwitz and starred Will Arnett and therefore was almost exclusively referred to “the show not as good as Arrested Development”?* Unfortunately, it wasn’t the funniest show in the world but there were a couple of great moments that made me think it would get funnier once it found a consistent stride but then it was obviously canceled after a few episodes due to low ratings and/or the Hurwitz curse. BUT! Starting Thursday, FX (a network we love!) is airing the last four episodes. So that’s something!
*Can we stop comparing EVERY SHOW IN THE WORLD to Arrested Development? I am one of the biggest AD fans. I mean, I’m one of those obnoxious fucks who quotes it too much and still forces it on people and while watching the last four episodes, my college roommate and I sat on a futon laugh/crying and then actual/crying for two hours and I’m pretty sure I skipped class for two weeks to obsessively rewatch the series and mourn the show like a crazy person. But there are a lot of funny and well-written shows on TV right now that are great! We should watch them instead of saying “Well, it doesn’t have the Bluth family” and writing it off because then these shows get canceled and I get sad and I have to blog about why we can’t have nice things.
