Hey sitcoms, we know that there are limited ideas in the world and Here Comes Honey Boo Boo is a particularly easy target to hit but you might want to calm down on the references.  Above: 30 Rock, 2 Broke Girls, and Partners — all from this week.

The ubiquitous Game of Thrones reference hits not one, but two season premieres this week.

We’re heading into that bittersweet part of the year where shows are airing their season — or series — finales so here’s a quick look at the finales airing tonight:
8:00 (CBS): 2 Broke Girls. If the rest of the season is any indication, the finale will probably feature Caroline rehashing the premise of the show and Max cracking jokes about her sad childhood with a few broad stereotypes to carry the plot along. It’s a one hour finale (really?) which means we’ll get double the amount of lines like “You really put the ‘ho’ in ‘Kinkos’” or “You put the ‘oh no’ in ‘kimono’” or “You take the ‘fun’ out of ‘funnel’” and really, this could go on forever. Oh, and Martha Stewart guest stars! Of course! But hey, it’s a massive hit, it’s already renewed for a second season, and there’s been a few good bits throughout the year so let’s hope they spend the summer fixing the flaws.

10:00 (ABC): Castle. Admittedly, I’m about a full season behind on Castle but despite that it seems like a fairly generic detective drama with a case of the week and heavy dose of “will they or won’t they?” it’s actually entertaining! It helps that it stars Nathan Fillion and his perfect face. It’s no replacement for Firefly, because nothing ever is, but it’s a good show to marathon during the summer when television is mostly boring repeats. Castle has been ace at delivering some great season finales and I wish I was all caught up so I could watch this one in real time.

Some things about 2 Broke Girls:
The laugh track kept telling me when to laugh and it was usually very wrong.
Drink for every hipster joke or cringe-worthy music reference (Coldplay? Really?)
The second act was better than the first and wrapped up the pilot nicely whereas the first act was mostly bogged down by broad stereotypical characters and “snappy” dialogue that tried too hard and had a icky after taste of Diablo Cody.
Are we really still doing the whole hip old black guy and grammatically challenged Asian guy characters? Yeah? Cool. Good progress, world.
This is not a subway that exists in 2011:
This was also created by Whitney Cummings and so far it seems cruder and more similar to her “drrrrty gal” act more than Whitney probably will.
Is it a television rule that all new pilots with “girl” in the title must feature the main character coming home early to find her boyfriend cheating on her?
That said: 2 Broke Girls is definitely better than New Girl though I’m not really rushing to watch any of them on a week-to-week basis.
